Bitcoin: Reasons for the Price Drop and Market Prospects

Bitcoin

The cryptocurrency market has seen significant price fluctuations lately, and Bitcoin is no exception. The fall in the value of the main digital currency has sparked interest among investors and analysts. According to the analyst, the Bitcoin price drop is due to the actions of long-term holders (LTHs), who began selling their assets to institutions after the launch of spot ETFs in January 2024. This slowed the price growth despite institutional purchases. Capriole Investments founder Charles Edwards described the situation as “dumping on Wall Street.”

The growth of holders and treasury companies

The number of Bitcoin holders has increased dramatically over the past six months. BTC treasury companies have bought as much Bitcoin in the last two months as long-term holders have unloaded in 1.5 years. Charles Edwards predicted that these companies will create a “massive flywheel of buying frenzy.”

New Corporate Investors

New corporate investors such as Cardone Capital, ProCap, Panther Metals, and Green Minerals have emerged in the past week. This could indicate growing interest from major players in the cryptocurrency market.

Short-Term Profit Taking

Traders are taking profits ahead of the tariff expiration on July 9. Many expect the underlying issues to remain unresolved, which could lead to further price declines.

Macroeconomic Data Expectations

Investors and traders are awaiting US macroeconomic data reports and policy updates. Trade deal updates and Trump’s budget bill are key risks that could impact the market.

Sideways Trading and Spot ETFs Rise

Bitcoin prices have fluctuated between $102,000 and $110,000 since early May. The US has seen over $3.2 billion in spot Bitcoin ETFs in the last two weeks. The number of new Bitcoin treasuries continues to grow.

Current situation

Bitcoin rose 1.2% on Monday and reached resistance at $108,750. However, at the time of writing, Bitcoin has failed to break above that level.

The crypto market situation remains volatile, and investors should closely monitor news and research reports to make informed decisions.
